Kitchen cabinet brands on the East Coast: who builds near New Jersey, who stocks here, and what that does to your lead time
A national list of cabinet brands tells you who exists. It does not tell you that the cabinet you are pricing was assembled in Newark, hand-built in Lebanon County, or shipped from a plant in Alabama on a truck that takes a week. On the East Coast that geography decides your lead time, your freight damage risk, how fast a wrong door gets fixed and whether you can see the real thing before you buy. This guide is the regional version of our U.S. brands guide: the makers and warehouses within a day's drive of our showrooms in Union, Paramus and Rochelle Park, what each one is, and how far your kitchen travels.

Why the map matters on the East Coast
Three facts shape cabinet buying in this part of the country. First, the port: the Port of New York and New Jersey is the largest container port on the East Coast and the third largest in the nation — 8.7 million twenty-foot container units in 2024 — and its own figures list furniture as the single biggest import commodity, with China, India and Vietnam the top origins. That is why so many importers and assemblers sit along the Turnpike corridor: Fabuwood in Newark and Linden, Forevermark in Edison, FGM in Linden, WoodConcept and CNC in South Plainfield, Cubitac in Ridgefield, Hanssem in Edison, 21st Century in Moorestown, Adornus's Northeast centre in East Windsor. A stocked cabinet in one of those warehouses is a day or two from your driveway.
Second, the Pennsylvania custom belt. Lancaster, Lebanon, Berks and Snyder counties hold more custom cabinet plants than any comparable patch of the country — Plain & Fancy, Wood-Mode, Rutt, Quality Custom Cabinetry, Kountry Kraft, Signature, Adelphi, Christiana, Village Handcrafted, Conestoga, St. Martin — most of them family companies that deliver on their own trucks or by regional carrier. A custom kitchen from Pennsylvania reaches New Jersey without a cross-country freight transfer, and that shows up in damage rates and in how quickly a replacement part arrives.
Third, the climate. Northeast houses swing from forced-air winters below 30 percent humidity to August afternoons above 70, and wood moves with it. Wood-Mode's care guide asks for 25 to 55 percent relative humidity at about 70°F and says the finish stress lines that open at the joints of painted doors in winter are "not considered a defect"; Wolf builds to a 40–50 percent target and asks owners to keep the house above 35 percent. Every maker on this page says some version of the same thing, which is why a painted inset door in a drafty 1920s colonial is a conversation we have before we order, not after.

| Conestoga Wood Specialties | East Earl, Lancaster County · 1964, Hahn family | Doors and components for the trade (1,000-plus designs, about thirty species) plus RTA Advantage framed and Vesta frameless cabinets sized to the sixteenth | Trade only; many "custom" doors in other brands' kitchens start here |
| Wolf Home Products | York · 1843; PrimeSource Brands since 2021 | Not a plant: a sourcing company whose Wolf Classic is "built in the USA from globally sourced components" — framed, all-plywood, dovetail drawers | 3,500-plus lumber yards and dealers; stock SKUs in days, modified orders five to six weeks; nearest distribution centre Northborough, MA |
| Kitchen Magic | Nazareth, Northampton County · 1979 | Refacing and new cabinetry; door styles made in Nazareth | Direct, PA/NJ/NY/CT/DE — the refacing option if the boxes are sound (see refacing vs replacing) |
We carry two of these — Plain & Fancy at the top of our range and St. Martin/NOMA in the middle — and we chose them for the same reason the belt exists: a custom or built-to-order kitchen from three hours away arrives on the maker's schedule, on a truck that knows the route, with a plant we can call. Our custom cabinets page explains how a custom order runs from drawing to install.
New Jersey: assembled and stocked here
No state has more cabinet warehouses within an hour of each other. These are the lines whose boxes sit on racks in New Jersey today, which is why most of them quote in days.
| Line | Where in NJ | What it is | Stated speed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fabuwood | Newark plant (2009); 197,000 sq ft Linden Logistics Center lease (2023) | Semi-custom framed (Allure) and frameless (Illume, Ovela); components sourced globally, assembled in the USA; limited lifetime warranty; about 1,400 employees | Signature colours stocked — typically a few weeks; Select and Designer colours made to order |
| Forevermark | Edison (The Shekia Group) | Framed full-overlay stock; four collections, 22 styles; plywood box, dovetail drawers, soft-close | Stocked in New Jersey; most orders ship in days |

| CNC Cabinetry | South Plainfield HQ; five U.S. assembly warehouses | Globally sourced framed and frameless stock collections (1992) | Says it ships in as little as two to three business days |
| Cubitac | Ridgefield; 111,000 sq ft distribution building leased 2019 | Importer-distributor of flat-packed stock sizes with a modification service; lifetime warranty since 2024 | Not published |
| Hanssem | Edison plant (Korean parent, 1970) | Stock and semi-custom, all-plywood with Blum hardware | About 200 dealers from Boston to Washington |
Seven of our fifteen lines are on this table, and that is not an accident. A stocked New Jersey line lets us tell you an install date at the first meeting, swap a damaged door in days and keep in-stock kitchens at the lowest price in the showroom. The trade-off is choice: a stocked line has fixed colours and sizes, and a made-to-order line (Kith, Shiloh, St. Martin, Great Northern, Plain & Fancy, Crystal) has hundreds. Our remodel timeline guide shows how each choice moves the calendar.
New York and New England
North and east of us the picture changes from warehouses to shops and showrooms.
- Candlelight Cabinetry (Lockport, NY, 1990) — the region's best-known semi-custom-to-custom plant shut suddenly in January 2026 after months of financial trouble; in May 2026 New York State announced its purchase by a new investor group, Candlelight Curated, with the Quebec maker Cuisine Idéale, an $11 million investment and a phased restart. If a Candlelight kitchen is on your quote, ask which company is building it and when.
- Crown Point Cabinetry (Claremont, NH, 1979) — custom inset, beaded inset and frameless with inch-thick doors and black-walnut drawers, sold direct nationwide with its own designers and no dealers; ten-year warranty. Crown Select is its lower-priced, less-customised line.
- Metropolitan Cabinets & Countertops (Norwood, MA) — a trade-only frameless and inset maker building about 1,200 cabinets a week, mostly for multi-unit projects.
- The RTA Store (Hopewell Junction, NY, 2009) — an online RTA and pre-assembled retailer with a 20-year limited warranty and free design; the closest of the RTA sellers to us.
- The European studios in Manhattan — Poggenpohl (U.S. division formed in New Jersey in 1986, now with a SoHo flagship), SieMatic in Midtown, Scavolini in SoHo, Reform in Dumbo. Frameless, German or Italian or Danish, and priced accordingly; our frameless page shows what the same construction costs from Eclipse, NOMA, Adornus and Fabuwood.
The South and Midwest plants that ship here
Some of the best built-to-order cabinets on the East Coast come from a long way off, by truck, on a schedule the plant sets. The distance costs you a week or two of transit and a careful unboxing; it buys you a door library a stocking warehouse cannot hold.
| Line | Plant | What it adds | Our note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shiloh · Eclipse | Dudley, Missouri (W.W. Wood Products, since 1977) | Nine framed constructions including beaded inset, 40 door styles, nine species, any Sherwin-Williams colour; Eclipse frameless with acrylic and textured slab fronts | Made to order; the step-up line on many of our two-tone and inset kitchens |
| Kith | Haleyville, Alabama (since 1998; Pfingsten Partners-owned since 2016; Mouser in Kentucky) | Framed and full-access; KithOne's one-price catalogue; lifetime warranty | KithOne is the quickest of the three Kith lines; ask for the current week count |
| Great Northern | Rib Lake, Wisconsin (since 1972) | Eleven species, inset and overlay, hand-applied stains, Jay Rambo frameless | Custom, made to order |
| Crystal | Princeton, Minnesota (since 1947) | Affordable Custom and Premium Custom; 80 door styles, twelve species | Affordable Custom is quicker than Premium; ask for the week count |
| Wellborn · Showplace · KraftMaid · Medallion · StarMark | Alabama · South Dakota · Ohio · Minnesota · South Dakota | The national dealer and home-centre semi-custom plants (see the U.S. guide) | Not lines we carry; all ship east by LTL freight |
What an East Coast buyer should check
- Where is it built, and where is it stocked? "Made in the USA", "assembled in the USA from globally sourced components" and "stocked in New Jersey" are three different answers, and all three can be the right one. Ask which.
- How does it travel? Maker's own trucks (Plain & Fancy), regional carrier from Pennsylvania (St. Martin, Wood-Mode, Kountry Kraft), LTL freight from the Midwest or South (Shiloh, Kith, Crystal, Great Northern), or a van from a warehouse down the Parkway (Fabuwood, Forevermark, FGM, 21st Century, WoodConcept, J&K). Freight damage is handled before you see the boxes when a dealer receives and inspects them.
- What is the lead time for the colour you picked? The same brand can be days (a stocked colour) or two months (a custom match). The dates above are the makers' own words; we confirm the current week count on every order.
- Who services it after install? A replacement door from a New Jersey warehouse is a drive; from a Midwest plant it is a freight shipment. Both are fine when the dealer manages them.
- Humidity. Keep the house between about 35 and 55 percent relative humidity; expect painted doors to show hairlines at the joints in a dry winter, and expect every maker's warranty to call that normal wood movement rather than a defect.
- Is the company still the company? Wood-Mode (2019), Haas (2024), Candlelight (2026) and Cabinetworks' Pennsylvania plants (2024–25) are reminders that the East Coast industry restructures. A dealer who has delivered the brand recently is your best evidence.

Bottom line
On the East Coast the question is not only "which brand" but "how far". The New Jersey stocking lines (Fabuwood, Forevermark, FGM, 21st Century, WoodConcept, J&K, Adornus) put a plywood box on your driveway in days; the Pennsylvania belt (Plain & Fancy, St. Martin, NOMA, Wood-Mode, Rutt, QCCI, Kountry Kraft, Christiana and the rest) builds custom and built-to-order kitchens that arrive by the maker's own truck or a regional carrier; and the Midwest and Southern plants (Shiloh, Eclipse, Kith, Crystal, Great Northern) send the deepest door libraries east by freight. We stock or order from all three circles, we receive and inspect every delivery ourselves and we install with our own crew, so the distance is our problem rather than yours. Bring your measurements to Union, Paramus or Rochelle Park and we will tell you, line by line, when your kitchen can be in.
