About this kitchen
Interior designer Alicja Crosby brought us this kitchen with the palette already decided: Hale Navy cabinets, white and black stone, warm brass. We built it in Shiloh inset, with the doors sitting flush inside the face frames, a hutch with reeded-glass uppers and a panel-ready refrigerator dressed in the same navy doors so the appliance wall reads as furniture.
The island is the one white piece in the room. Its veined marble top turns down the end in a waterfall, and the same stone runs up the range wall as a single slab with a narrow ledge for oils and salt. The perimeter counters are matte black, which lets the marble do the talking.
The room came with a brick fireplace, which was painted black and given an antique gold mirror; a crystal chandelier and brass globe sconces finish it. Three black leather stools on brass bases sit at the island, and the wide-plank oak floor runs through to the bay window.
